2018 Healthy New YOU Expo: Will YOU be there?

In January 2018, the Healthy New YOU Expo returns to Emory to help you start your New Year with health and well-being in mind.  This popular event features cooking demos, mini fitness classes, meditation sessions, talks by wellness experts and exhibitors in the areas of nutrition, fitness, stress management, ergonomics, finance and more.  The Expo will be held at five Emory locations this year.  The main site will be at the Woodruff Physical Education Center (WPEC) on the Emory University Campus and satellite expos will be held at:

  • Emory University Midtown Hospital
  • Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital
  • Emory Johns Creek Hospital
  • Emory University Orthopaedics and Spine Hospital

* All the expos will be January 11 from 10am to 2pm.

"We invite all Emory employees to come by, even if they can only stay for a brief time,” says Dawn McMillian, Wellness Specialist with Emory Health & Wellness and coordinator of the expo. “We are very excited about some of the new activities we have in store for this year!  One of the featured speakers for this year is Emory grad, Alok Despande, who is presenting “Get Your Money Right” on how to get your finances in order and follow a 7-step path to gain financial freedom. Alok will help you understand the headwinds you face when dealing with money and how to identify the most important number in your financial life.”

Also new for this year are sessions on compassionate meditation, dating in 2018, and strategies for caring for aging parents. And you can even learn how to protect yourself by attending a self-defense demonstration.

Returning favorites include Canine Assistants (come get a stress-busting snuggle from a therapy dog), the Expo Art Corner (create some art to take home as a keepsake), and the always popular chair massage folks!

McMillian’s hope for the expo is that “employees will get assistance with making whatever changes they wish to improve their wellbeing.  Everyone deserves to start off 2018 with a healthy new you.”
