Taste the rainbow!

This spring, taste the rainbow by participating in Colorful Choices, a 6-week nutrition challenge. Sponsored by Healthy Emory, this challenge aims to help you improve your eating habits. Are you ready to reap the benefits of eating a diet plentiful in produce and full of color?

By eating more fruits and vegetables, you may be able to decrease your cholesterol levels and feel fuller with fewer calories. Plus, according to the Produce for Better Health Foundation a produce-friendly diet is higher in fiber, vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals. Phytochemical act as antioxidants and can decrease your risk for developing health conditions, such as heart disease or cancer. Darker colors, such as what makes a blueberry so blue, or a tomato so red, indicate more phytochemicals.

'Know Your Numbers' screenings help Emory employees learn key health statistics

Making the decision to get your numbers - to actually come face-to-face with the facts about your weight, waist circumference, percentage of body fat, blood pressure and cholesterol level - isn't always easy, but according to Michael Staufacker, director of health management, knowing this information is critical to understanding your health.

That is why, in January and February, Healthy Emory provided free, onsite "Know Your Numbers" health screenings at 80 different campus locations. More than 7,000 employees of Emory University and Emory Healthcare participated in the screenings, receiving important information about their key biometric numbers: blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, body mass index and body composition.

National Walking Day
National Walking Day 2017 is Wednesday, April 5! This annual event is a call-to-action to increase physical activity with a walk during the workday. Emory will offer multiple 30-minute walks on this day. Donate a pair of shoes to charity and be eligible for a prize drawing.
