Focus on physical activity

With summer upon us, now is a great time to focus on physical activity. As an Emory employee, you have many opportunities to help you be active.

Across Emory, there are a number of facilities available, which provide convenient ways to add activity to your day. On the Clifton Campus, you can join the Woodruff Physical Education Center or Blomeyer Health Fitness Center (employee-only facility). Make the short trip over to the Clairmont Campus to enjoy the many amenities, like the outdoor pool and tennis courts, at the Student Activity & Academic Center (SAAC). Oxford employees can take advantage of the Williams Gym and many Emory hospitals and other facilities have on-site fitness rooms.

Sunshine, beaches, and barbeques often come to mind when we think about summer. At Emory, three additional words should come to mind: Summer Webinar Series.

The Summer Webinar Series launched in June with a full roster of 30-minute webinars focused on physical activity, nutrition, and stress management to help keep you on track with your health and wellness goals. Webinars are convenient and easily accessible (Emory Healthcare employees should consider watching them outside the VDT). Learn more about dates, times, and topics here.

Better Choice initiative

People make an average of 221 food-related decisions each day, although most of us are only aware of making a fraction of those choices. The rest are often influenced by a variety of factors, including subconscious environmental cues.

Making the best, or even "better," choice can sometimes be a lot tougher than one would immediately think. To help employees who are looking to make better nutrition decisions, Healthy Emory now offers a new food labeling initiative called "Better Choice."
