  • Path to Wellness
  • Have you made wellness part of your New Year's Resolution? This session helps you with setting realistic nutrition, fitness and wellness goals to build on throughout the year.


  • On the Go!
  • This popular workshop is full of helpful tips for busy people. It includes information about how to incorporate healthy eating, time management and fitness into a busy day.


  • Heart Matters
  • Heart disease is the number one cause of death in the United States. This course explores healthy nutritional habits, exercise, stress management and the risk factors associated with heart disease.

  • Healthy Holidays (General)
  • Keep your holidays healthy and safe by learning strategies for healthy eating and exercise, as well as ornament, fire, ladder and driving safety. Tips on maintaining a work-life balance helps participants enjoy the holiday season with friends and family.


  • Healthy Holidays (Nutrition)
  • Avoid the 5-10 pound weight gain during the holidays. Participants learn tips on foods to avoid and food groups to emphasize during the winter holidays.


  • A Healthy 2009, Getting Started
  • Are you looking to be healthier in 2008? Healthy 2008 provides guidance on nutrition, exercise and work-life balance. Learn available resources to help you stay healthy throughout the year.


  • Nutrition 101
  • Participants learn the key principles to healthful eating: balance, moderation and wide variety. Learn about portion sizes and see how delicious healthy eating can be by reviewing sample menu plans. Exercise tips are included to help create a healthy balance.


  • Fitness 101
  • If you are ready to start an exercise program, or could use a refresher course, Fitness 101 covers everything you need to know about exercising. Join us to discuss the importance of cardiovascular exercise, strength training and flexibility.

  • Fad Diets
  • This course is an open forum designed to discuss truths and myths of the latest diet crazes. The pros and cons of popular diets is addressed in an easy-to-understand format. Bring all the questions you ever wanted answered.


  • Worklife Balance
  • Learn the importance of Work-Life Balance in creating a less stressful, more manageable work environment. Discuss ways to decrease stress and learn the available resources to help you. Attendants participate in a StressBreak guided by one of the FSAP professionals.

  • Label Reading
  • Label reading will familiarize participants with different components of the nutrition label, including serving size, servings per container, calories, fat (total, saturated and trans), cholesterol, sodium, additional nutrients, percentage of daily value and ingredients.

  • Low Carb Craze
  • Find out more about the low carb craze, including a general overview of the various diets and the advantages and disadvantages of a low carb lifestyle.

  • My Pyramid
  • Learn the new dietary guidelines illustrated in the updated pyramid. Special emphasis will be placed on determining calories, food groups, portion sizes and physical activity.

  • Emotional Eating
  • Explore the relationship between stress and food. Learn about the types of stress, symptoms of stress, comfort foods, factors affecting food choices and overcoming emotional eating.

  • The Blame Game
  • The Blame Game discusses the obesity epidemic: factors leading to overweight and obesity why everyone blames fast food for making America fat; and the grocery store's role in the obesity epidemic; tips for healthy grocery shopping; label reading and comparison; portion control; and tips for quick, healthy meals.

  • Healthy Nutrition and Goal Setting for Weight Loss
  • It seems as if people are always trying to lose weight. Many Americans have tried fad diet after fad diet, only to lose weight and then regain it ... plus some! This program emphasizes implementing small changes for lasting weight loss success. Topics include reasons why people want to lose weight, the benefits of weight loss, tips for success, goal setting and healthy nutrition tips.

  • Portion Distortion
  • Portion sizes have increased so much in the past 20 years that most Americans do not know what constitutes a proper portion. This presentation highlights the history of increasing portion sizes and the resulting increase in obesity while giving you tools on how to estimate proper portions at home and when eating out.

  • Healthy Eating in a Hurry: Two-Part Series
  • This two-part series is designed to provide information on planning and preparing quick and easy meals without sacrificing nutrition. The first session covers grocery shopping, stocking a healthy kitchen, creating healthy meals, balance and portion sizes. The second session demonstrates how to prepare a healthy dish in under 30 minutes. Participants will be able to enjoy a sample of the featured item, and recipes will be provided.

  • Ask the Dietician
  • Do you have a nutrition question? Have you heard about a new diet that is too good to be true and you want to know the catch? Do you want to know what the hype is surrounding organic foods? Ask the Dietitian is a question and answer session with Registered Dietitian, Blair Giles, where you can have all of your nutrition questions answered.
