Flu Shot Clinics - It's Worth A Shot!

H1N1

Emory University has received a partial shipment of injectable H1N1 vaccine and is expecting more in coming weeks to months. We are finalizing our distribution plan to ensure that vaccine is available first to the highest risk groups at Emory University and Emory Healthcare, including pregnant women and front-line medical staff.  As supply allows, we will then expand H1N1 vaccination to other Emory Healthcare patients and Emory University students and employees at increased risk of severe H1N1 infection, per CDC recommendations.

Therefore, Emory University will initially offer H1N1 influenza vaccinations to adult faculty, staff, students and immediate, same household family members 18 years of age and over who fall within the following CDC priority groups:

  • Pregnant women.
  • Individuals who provide care to a child or children under 6 months of age (either in their household or under their direct care in an out-of-home setting).
  • Healthcare workers, emergency medical services (EMS) workers or health sciences student involved in direct patient care.
  • Individuals 18-64 years of age with severe cardiac, pulmonary or neurodegenerative disease

We will ask all others to forego or defer H1N1 vaccination at this time, until the vaccine is available in larger quantities.  Emory students under 18 years of age with underlying chronic serious medical conditions will be offered vaccine at Student Health Services, where appropriate/required parental consent can be verified.

Emory Healthcare is also beginning vaccinations of front-line healthcare workers.

Starting tomorrow, Emory University will offer the following H1N1 vaccination clinics for individuals in the above priority groups.  Seasonal influenza vaccinations will also be available at these clinics while current supplies last:

Dobbs University Center(DUC)

Television Lounge, First Floor

Wednesday, November 4, 2009, 2:00 p.m.– 6:00 p.m.

Once again, per CDC recommendations and as supply allows, Emory will expand H1N1 vaccination to other Emory University students, faculty and staff and Emory Healthcare patients in additional priority groups when future H1N1 vaccine shipments are released by the state.
